2014 Dash for Deaf Kids

LSD Foundation to Hold 12th Annual Dash for Deaf Kids

Looking to raise funds and awareness of the Louisiana School for the Deaf, the school’s Foundation will hold the twelfth annual Dash for Deaf Kids at 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014. The cost to participate in the race is $25 for adults and $10 for children 14 and under, or $50 for a family of four.

Registration the day of the race will begin at 7:30 a.m. and continue until the start at 8 a.m. All proceeds from the race will go to benefit the students at LSD, specifically for the positive behavior reinforcement programs and the purchase of items and equipment for classrooms.

The Dash for Deaf Kids, a 5K race, will begin at the school’s campus, located at 2888 Brightside Lane, and will run through Riverbend Subdivision and back to the school. A “Fun Run” one-mile race around the campus is also available for those who wish to walk, jog or stroll. Brightside Lane will be blocked off to traffic at the beginning and end of the race as participants cross from the subdivision to the school.

Participants in the races will receive a Dash for Deaf Kids T-shirt (while the supply lasts), and the winners in the various age categories will receive gift certificates and prizes. Participants who register by March 3 are guaranteed a T-shirt.

The purpose of the race is twofold, to generate funds for the Foundation’s projects and to raise public awareness about the Louisiana School for the Deaf and the services it provides to deaf students from around the state. Dash registration forms are available; please see links below. Additional information can be obtained from LSD Foundation President Chris Sonnier at 225-214-4145.
